As part of their studies, veterinary medicine students can attend various courses on our teaching and research property.

The veterinary clinics make use of animals from the LFG for prepaedeutics, livestock tours, tracks and clinical rotations, the para-clinical institutes for teaching animal husbandry, animal hygiene, animal breeding, animal welfare, animal nutrition as well as bacteriology and parasitology. The LFG has the distinguishing feature of training and further education of students and veterinarians under real production conditions compared to exclusively commercially managed livestock.

The following courses are offered as part of the veterinary medicine degree programme:

  • live stock track,
  • propaedeutics,
  • animal hygiene course
  • stock care of cattle and pigs
  • clinical claw care course

In addition to undergraduate education, the LFG also fulfils tasks in the context of continuing education and training of veterinarians.

The LFG is also available to students of other faculties and departments of the University of Leipzig, such as the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Medicine, for their courses.

External courses are also held at the LFG, such as the animal experimentation course "Teaching basic knowledge in the field of animal protection law, animal protection technology and laboratory animal science on pigs".
