The Teaching and Research farm Oberholz supports all kinds of research and teaching from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Leipzig University.
The Oberholz Teaching and Research Facility (Lehr- und Forschungsgut Oberzholz `LFG`) of Leipzig University is an integral part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Veterinärmedizinische Fakultät, `VMF`). The facility with its farms for pigs, cattle and sheep is used for student teaching in various semesters in accordance with the Veterinary Licensing Regulations (TAppV). It is an important part of teaching veterinary expertise for farm animal practice. In addition to the areas of animal husbandry and herd care, this also includes the areas of animal hygiene and animal welfare, food hygiene and the specialist areas of infectious medicine (bacteriology, immunology, parasitology, virology). In addition to teaching, various research projects of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine are carried out by, or with support of, the LFG.
