The virological practical course "ViroLabSkills" takes place in the 6th semester in the pathology course room and serves as an introduction to relevant virological working methods and independent development and implementation of diagnostic tests.

Day 1: Sequence analyses

You receive a pig derived case and carry out a sequence analysis on the PC using various programs and databases.

Day 2: Haemagglutination test

You will perform a haemagglutination test with samples from a poultry flock to determine the viral load of your isolate.

Day 3: Immunoassay

You will perform a lateral flow test and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to find out more about the diarrhoea pathogens in a pig livestock.

Day 4: Serum Neutralization Assay

You will perform a plaque assay to determine a dogs antibody titer against the canine distemper virus.
