The Institute of Immunology has existed at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine since 1996 and has since become an integral part of the Centre for Infectious Diseases. Due to the excellent conditions at our institute, our PhD students have already received several prizes and awards.

    Establishment of the AG Immunology at the former Medical Veterinary Clinic

    Foundation of the Institute of Immunology
  • 2001
    Junior Research Group "Molecular Infection Medicine" by Dr. Reinhard Straubinger at the BBZ (until 2008)
    Training Centre Specialist Veterinarian Immunology
  • 2003
    Extension by the professorship for Molecular Pathogenesis at the BBZ with Prof. Dr. Manfred Blessing (until 2014)
  • 2007
    Further training entitlement: Specialist immunologist DGfI
  • 2009
    Participation in the LIFE research initiative on civilization diseases (until 2012).
  • 2010
    Ackerknechtpreis for excellent teaching in Immunology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Prof. Dr. Gottfried Alber)
  • 2011
    Wilhelm Ellenberger Prize for the best doctorate in 2010 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Daniel Piehler)
  • 2012
    Acquisition of two large-scale flow cytometry equipment (funded by the Free State of Saxony and the DFG)
    Foundation of the Core Unit Flow Cytometry (CUDZ)
  • 2015
    Fritz Rupert Ungemach Prize for the best doctorate in the field of infectious medicine in 2015 (Doris Bismarck)
  • 2019
    Recruitment of an Emmy Noether Junior Research Group (DFG) to investigate immunological aspects of equine asthma (Christiane Schnabel)
